Hyderabad: Industry Minister and TRS Labor President KT Rama Rao said the TRS government is committed to its election promises and has waived crop loans of up to Rs 50,000 for more than nine lakh farmers in the state. He said the government’s commitment to farmers’ welfare shows in their determination to free farmers from debt.
In a series of tweets, the minister said the TRS had pledged to waive farm loans up to Rs 1 lakh in 2014. To keep the promise, loans from 35.19 lakh farmers totaling Rs 16,144.10 crore have been waived so far. A similar commitment was made to farmers in 2018. “Even amid the pandemic, the Telangana government kept its promise and helped more than 9 lakh farmers by waiving loans of up to 50,000 rupees. Kudos to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao garu and Agriculture Minister S. Niranjan Reddy garu, ”he said.
Following its promise to waive loans of up to one lakh during the 2018 general election, the TRS government was the first installment to waive crop loans of up to 25,000 rupees, giving 2.96 lakh farmers 408.39 rupees Billions of rupees benefited. In the second phase, which started earlier this month, the government will waive loans up to 50,000 rupees, spend 2,005.85 billion rupees and benefit about 6.06 lakh of farmers. In the five days since the second installment of the crop loan waiver was introduced, approximately Rs.172.86 billion has been deposited into the bank accounts of approximately 63,074 farmers.
