Governor Greg Abbott Defies Washington’s Ambiguity – OpEd – Eurasia Review

Under the leadership of President Joe Biden, the United States is facing major economic stagnation, skyrocketing unemployment, and an increase in organized crime and violence in its major cities. Washington’s grim reality is being seriously affected by massive tides of illegal immigrants from Central American countries pouring across the US-Mexico border; caused an influx of drug and human trafficking and a dramatic increase in crime in the states of Texas, Arizona and New Mexico.

Such a depressing picture emerges as over twenty American cities have released their law enforcement agencies and plan to devote more resources to social services, abortion clinics, and education. On the flip side, Texas State Governor Greg Abbott (R) has been reiterating his threats since January 2021 to punish communities that cut law enforcement budgets, stating that he would like to see them “have access to all of their tax revenues.” to lose”. . “Governor Abbott has legislative plans in place aimed at keeping police agency funding at or above current levels.

In early 2021, Governor Abbott said he wanted Texas lawmakers to pass a property tax freeze law for communities that would cut law enforcement budgets if they decide to cut police budgets.

One of the most problematic matters was the Austin Police Department‘s debt relief and Governor Abbott has suggested a possible state takeover of Austin’s PD; and Republicans, who control both houses in the Texas legislature, have vowed to pass laws during the current session to stop police cuts.

It is worrying to see national political leaders associated with the White House and with the radical left groups expressing support for communist politicians – such as Tanja Fajon – in south-eastern Europe and Slovenia; have long advocated taking money from the US police and spending more on social programs and left ideology education for the younger generation.

Other cities that have cut their annual budgets include: New York City (with a budget cut of $ 92 million); Baltimore; Oakland, California; Los Angeles and Minneapolis.

In the state of Texas, Governor Greg Abbott signed a law on June 1, 2021 that targets protesters and restricts cities’ ability to reduce police budgets. Governor Abbott signed four Republican-backed bills aimed at widespread protests against police killings: House Bill 9, a priority bill for the Texas Lower Chamber, calls for jail sentences for anyone who knowingly found emergency vehicles or hospital entrances following an incident in California last September The sheriff’s department said protesters blocked a police car with two injured officers from entering a hospital.

Devaluing and disregarding police violence is the worst possible policy a community or state can pursue in the most consolidated democracy in the world, in which the four fundamental freedoms are preserved and constantly polished for the good of humanity.

It is unfortunate that President Biden has twisted his political discourse into disrespecting the local police force and failing to take tougher measures in the fight against organized crime at home and abroad. Washington, ruled by Democrats, has always overlooked the deep immigration crisis promoted by some US businessmen who admire Karl Popper; and is currently taking place in the state of Texas. To sum up, the President failed to take immediate action to stop the massive illegal entry into US territory of dangerous Mexican cartels that are heavily involved in drug and arms trafficking; Governor Abbott is left alone in this monumental task. On this matter, it is evident that the Texas governor will not be left alone for long as Washington may take serious action to address this crisis on the southern border.
